Santa Clarita Fire Victims Need Your Support!
Santa Clarita Valley Disaster Coalition Teams Up with the City of Santa Clarita to Aid Fire Victims.
Many Santa Clarita residents either lost their homes or had their homes badly damaged by the recent fires. With the Magic Fire, the Ranch Fire and the Meadowridge fire fully contained and the Buckweed Fire close to full containment, it’s time for the residents of Santa Clarita to regroup and lend a hand to those in need.
The City of Santa Clarita has teamed up with the nonprofit Santa Clarita Valley Disaster Coalition to accept donations from the community and provide financial assistance to those whose homes were badly damaged or destroyed by the fires.
They are asking for cash (checks) and gift card donations rather than clothing and household items, since these allow the fire victims to purchase the groceries and other essential items that they need. You can donate online via PayPal at SCVCoalition.com, or you can deliver checks (payable to SCV Coalition) or gift cards to the following locations:
- KHTS at Soledad and Camp Plenty in Canyon Country
- Santa Clarita City Hall (Building & Safety Office) on Valencia Boulevard
- SCV Senior Center on Market Street in Newhall
- The Signal on Creekside Road in Valencia
- Or mail your donation to the SCV Disaster Coalition, Care of KHTS, 27225 Camp Plenty Road, Suite 8, Santa Clarita, CA 91351.
Carl Goldman, Disaster Coalition Board president and co-owner of local radio station KHTS-AM 1220, says that "One hundred percent of donations will go directly to helping these Santa Clarita families. There are no administrative fees, since each organization and individual involved with the Coalition volunteers their services and time."
The National Association of Realtors (NAR) has donated $500,000 through the REALTORS® Relief Foundation to aid California fire victims. NAR is calling on its 1.3 million Realtor members to contribute to this relief fund as well. Contributions may be made online or by mailing checks payable to the REALTORS® Relief Foundation to: REALTORS® Relief Foundation, Attn: NAR Finance Division, 430 N. Michigan Ave., Chicago, IL 60611.
