Valencia High’s Color Guard Wins First Place at Hart Rampage Competition

Hart Rampage 2007 showcased bands and color guards from local high schools as well as others in the region.

Hart Rampage 2007 was a great success in terms of showing off Santa Clarita’s high school marching bands and color guards. This was the 24th annual field show competition sponsored by the Hart High Regiment, with competitions from morning to late evening at the College of the Canyons on Saturday, October 13.

The music and pageantry is in a completely different league from when I was in high school band, featuring complicated maneuvers, props, and choreography. The color guards add spice to the shows with their dance moves, colorful flags, and sabre and rifle mastery.

The competition is broken up into divisions, based on the size of the band. Valencia High was in Division 2A, along with Golden Valley High and Canyon High. West Ranch High and Saugus High competed in Division 3A.

Valencia High’s color guard won first place in their division, with one of the highest scores in the entire competition. You can watch a video of Valencia’s performance here and a video of Saugus High’s performance here.
