Take a Hike!
Santa Clarita's trail maps have recently been updated.
An updated Santa Clarita trails map was published recently, and it shows an abundance of opportunties for hiking and exploring in the Santa Clarita Valley.
This new map shows over 140 miles of hiking and riding trails within the Santa Clarita Valley. Updates include trails within the communities of Castaic, West Ranch and Agua Dulce. The total area mapped for the Trails Plan update study was approximately 275 square miles.
The overall Trails Plan proposes to link to as many of these community trails as possible as well as trails in the Angeles National Forest and the Los Padres National Forest. A few of these trails connect to the Pacific Crest Trail, which is a national scenic trail that crosses the Santa Clarita Valley near the Vasquez Rocks Regional County Park.
Resources within the areas mapped include forest land, the Santa Clara river, mountain canyons, oak woodland and oak savannah areas, mountainous terrain and Significant Ecological Areas (SEA).
The new maps are expected to be used by the Regional Planning Commission (RPC) and the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors in planning for future development projects.
For us "normal" people, this updated Santa Clarita trails map is a great way to get a look at the available trails to explore in the Santa Clarita Valley area!
