Update: SunCal Tesoro del Valle Area Homes at San Francisquito Canyon
San Francisquito residents demand larger lot sizes
First 60 homes were planned for the San Francisquito Canyon area adjacent to Tesoro del Valle, and then it was reduced to 45 homes as nearby owners of horse property protested that they didn’t want their neighborhood destroyed by an abundance of cluster-style homes.
At the latest Los Angeles County Planning Meeting, San Francisquito residents demanded that the minimum lot size be increased to 2 acres instead of the current proposal for 1 acre or less. With only about 29 buildable acres in this planned development, this would mean substantially fewer homes for SunCal to be able to build.
Will SunCal continue to pursue this development if nearby residents win this battle for lot sizes of at least 2 acres? Hard to say, but I would expect to see some "bargaining" between the County and SunCal with this development and other nearby SunCal developments as the land for Castaic High School is still hanging in the balance.
