Santa Clarita Water Customers Likely to Get Rate Increase

Santa Clarita Water Company expects to increase rates in 2007.

The Santa Clarita Water Company is expected to increase its rates by 17% this year. This increase will affect almost 30,000 residential and commercial customers.

The increase is supposed to offset the increased water rates from the Castaic Lake Water Agency as well as updating existing equipment.

A public hearing about the rate increase is scheduled for 7 p.m. Feb. 14 in the board room at the CLWA’s Rio Vista Treatment Plant, located at 27234 Bouquet Canyon Road.

To educate customers on how to reduce landscape water use, Castaic Lake Water Agency (CLWA) has developed a landscape education program with classes held monthly.
