Suncal Update for Tesoro del Valle
Revised project plan sent back to the drawing board.
Suncal’s revised plan for the area at the top of Tesoro del Valle and bordering San Francisquito Canyon has been sent back to the drawing board once again.
Originally planned as a 60-home development, their latest revision reduced that plan to 56 homes and moved some of those lots into areas that the Los Angeles County Planning Commission considers as protected habitats. Previously, the Planning Commission had demanded that the minimum lot size be increased to 15,000 square feet, the minimum size for equestrian homes. The City of Santa Clarita is also challenging the accuracy of the boundaries under the Santa Clarita Valley Areawide General Plan that was used for density calculations on the project.
The project has recently been sent back to the drawing board to remove the five lots in question and to make sure that there is enough open space in the area to maintain the current equestrian lifestyle of the surrounding area. It has been removed from the County’s calendar for now while Suncal prepares a revised project plan.
