| April 18, 2006 | | Town councils meet to discuss process and timelines for incorporation. | Will the City of Santa Clarita ever be successful in annexing the areas of West Ranch and Castaic? Possibly not! The West Ranch Town Council, made up of representatives from the areas including Stevenson Ranch, Southern Oaks, Westridge, Sunset Pointe and The Enclave will likely be joining with Castaic in researching and planning the incorporation of new cities and the coordination of the boundaries for those new cities. Apparently there is legislation that is currently being considered in Sacramento that would restore for a limited period of time funding for new cities from vehicle license fees. The West Ranch Town Council also disputes the City of Santa Clarita's statements regarding how much they could benefit from annexation. And of course the City of Santa Clarita recently fired a cheap shot at West Ranch and Castaic, among others, by voting to charge more for Parks and Recreation services to residents of these unincorporated areas of Los Angeles County. Looks like we've got a good old-fashioned pissing-contest going on here! | Topic Tags: annexation, annexing, castaic, city of santa clarita, enclave, los angeles county, santa clarita, santa clarita city council, southern oaks, stevenson ranch, sunset pointe, west ranch, west ranch town council, westridge |
