Lennar vs. the Nation of Islam?
San Francisco group rants about Lennar and "corrupt" politicians.
I’m not sure how to classify this post since it’s about a rant with a humorous side, so we’ll just call it "real estate related"…
Apparently Lennar is working to build on what is classified as a Superfund Site in the San Francisco area, which means that the site is highly toxic and needs some serious clean-up before homes can be built there. We’re somewhat familiar with toxic sites here in Santa Clarita, in the form of the Bermite site.
I’m not going to touch the issue of whether Lennar or government officials are corrupt or not… that’s not the point here. We all know that power can corrupt, and that not all politicians (or developers) are clean… enough said.
What’s funny about this San Francisco rant is that it takes bonafide concerns about the effect of the removal of toxics from a Superfund Site and turns it around and spins it upside down so it’s become an attack on the Nation of Islam (apparently there’s an Islamic University nearby?). The writer even attacks some of his own people by calling them "sellouts". Read more here.
So, if you’re wondering why Lennar’s new homes are being priced higher, it’s probably partly because they’re busily defending themselves against these types of lawsuits. In the Santa Clarita area, Lennar is currently building West Creek, West Hills and RiverVillage and has future plans for the Newhall Ranch project.
