Castaic High School Not Delayed After All?
SunCal gives update on Castaic High School plans.
At last night’s West Ranch Town Council meeting, SunCal gave an update on the schedule for the NorthLake project in Castaic as well as the Castaic High School project.
SunCal is still optimistic that Castaic High School can be completed by the 2010 school year. However, this is dependent on two factors: 1) that the approval process goes as planned; and 2) that the Hart School District opts to use modular (prefab) buildings instead of standard stick-built buildings.
On April 11, SunCal had its first meeting with the Regional Planning Commission (RPC) regarding the NorthLake project. The public comment period for the Economic Impact Report (EIR) has been extended through Jun 6.
Once the grading permits are received, it is expected to take 9-10 months to grade and prepare the pad for the high school. During this time, the modular buildings can be constructed offsite and prepared for installation as soon as the pad is complete.
The 2010 timing for the opening of Castaic High School is definitely optimistic, but apparently possible according to SunCal.
