Be Prepared: Daylight Savings Time’s Early Arrival
Daylight Savings Time starts three weeks earlier this year.
Starting this year, Daylight Savings Time starts earlier than it has in prior years. Be prepared to change your clocks on March 11, 2007 and again on November 4, 2007.
Other than having your internal time clock messed up for a few days as it gets used to the new time, there’s usually not much else you have to worry about.
Not so this year! All of your computers and other electronic devices are likely set to the old Daylight Savings schedule, so they won’t automatically adjust on the right day if you don’t update your systems.
Here are some key patches to help you get started:
- To update your Windows XP software, click here to install the Windows Daylight Savings patch.
- To update your Microsoft Outlook software, click here to install the Outlook Timezone Data Update Tool.
- To update Windows Mobile, click here to install the Windows Mobile Timezone Data Update Tool.
- If you have a Palm device, click here for the latest Palm updates.
- If you sync your PDA or cell phone to your computer, be sure to install the updates on BOTH devices!
Be sure to check all of your other devices for updates as well, including your cell phone, pda, fax machine and DVR.
