Unincorporated Santa Clarita to Get More Police Coverage

September 27, 2006

Local News and Updates

Residents of Stevenson Ranch, Castaic and other unincorporated areas of Santa Clarita have suffered with slower response time and less police coverage than their neighbors in the City of Santa Clarita for about as long as anyone can remember. This is partly due to the Sherriff’s Department’s desire to fulfill its contract commitments to the City of Santa Clarita before addressing issues in other areas.

Sherriff Lee Baca has finally made a commitment to reallocate new hires to the Sherriff’s Department to these other areas. It’s unclear how soon this will happen though, since they supposedly can’t start recruiting more deputies until next year.

So in the meantime, let’s keep crime to a minimum in these unincorporated areas so the current pool of Sherriffs isn’t overtaxed!
