TPC Valencia Golf Course to go Private

The TPC Westridge golf course in Valencia may start the process to go private within the next year, instead of waiting closer to 10 years as originally planned.

"There has been some general discussion and general interest in taking the course private over the next year or so," said Marlee Lauffer, a Newhall Land spokeswoman. "There’s no set time frame."

One of the requirements for the TPC golf course to go private was that the course either had to be public for at least 15 years, or that at least two other public courses had to be opened in the area. These requirements were put in place during the original approval process with the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors. With the opening of the Robinson Ranch courses in Canyon Country, the two-course requirement has already been met, so TPC is apparently free to go private at its discretion.

The clubhouse and restaurant at the TPC golf course are likely to remain open to the public.
